Kurano Yukiko

Yukiko Kurano / Born in Kumamoto City in 1979.
2002: Graduated from Kumamoto University, Faculty of Education, Junior High School Teacher Training Course, specializing in Fine Arts. 2004: Completed master's degree at University of Tsukuba, Graduate School of Art and Design.
Plants that seem to be still, but are constantly putting down roots, extending branches and leaves, and subtly moving. The landscapes of the sky and sea, slowly but continuously changing moment by moment.
Even when a person is just standing still, the micro-landscape of the human body suggests that countless cells are subtly moving to live. She creates her works by using brushstrokes to trace the dynamic movement that these forms hold within their stillness.
