Yoichiro Otani

This exhibition features works from "Beyond Words, Outside Meaning," a three-person exhibition that explores how we usually understand and perceive the world, starting from words and letters. This exhibition re-examines the relationship between language and images through expressions that move between seeing and reading, form and meaning. Yoichiro Otani creates visual poems using Chinese characters, finding new connections between their form, sound, and meaning. The characters accumulated on the screen, while symbols that convey meaning, transform into images reminiscent of landscapes and natural presences, drawing out the fluctuations that arise between seeing and reading.
