Yoichiro Otani

This exhibition features works from "Beyond Words, Outside Meaning," a three-person show that explores how we usually understand and perceive the world, starting from words and letters. This exhibition re-examines the relationship between words and images through expressions that move back and forth between seeing and reading, form and meaning. Yoichiro Otani creates visual poetry using kanji characters, finding new connections between their forms, sounds, and meanings. The kanji accumulated on the screen, while being symbols that convey meaning, transform into images that evoke landscapes and the presence of nature, drawing out the fluctuations that arise between seeing and reading.
