Motor Show (The Used)

Hisashi Yamamoto

This work is featured in the three-person exhibition "Beyond Words, Outside Meaning," which explores how we typically understand and perceive the world, starting from words and language. This exhibition re-examines the relationship between words and images through expressions that move back and forth between seeing and reading, form and meaning. Hisashi Yamamoto, based on calligraphy, engages in the conceptual practice of "writing the name of a thing on the thing itself." By superimposing the object and the text of its name in the same place, he creates a moment where "seeing" and "reading" intersect, questioning the mechanism of perception through language.
