Statement

本展では、扱うマテリアルも手法も違う5名の作品を展示します。
参加作家は、アド、池上創、金子司、蔵野由紀子、黒田恵枝。

和紙とオイルパステルで野生動物や猫を描くアド、萩焼の技法を用い、きのこをモチーフとした陶芸作品を制作する金子司。黒田恵枝は廃棄衣類から空想の生き物「もけもけもの」を生み出しています。吹きガラスによって生命のエネルギーを表現するのが池上創。蔵野由紀子は油彩、水彩で花や植物の生命力を描いています。
素材もモチーフも異なる5名が、それぞれの手法で生命の気配を立ち上げます。

家族の一員であるペット、軒先で育てる花など日常で触れあういきものの生命のあり方は実に多彩。そこに感じとる、私たちのリアルで深遠な生命とは。いきものの愛らしさを入口としながら、生命の力強さ、儚さを想像する本展。

夏休みに幅広い世代に楽しんでいただける、明るく生命力に満ちた内容にぜひご期待ください。

An artist who loves living things. Born in Ishikawa Prefecture, lives in Kumamoto Prefecture. Explores expressions of the nature of living things. Creates art while considering what can be done for animals. In 2003, visited Kenya with the desire to be involved in wildlife conservation. After returning to Japan, began creating art to see what could be done independently. After graduating from university with a degree in animal science, worked at Kumamoto City Zoological and Botanical Garden. Began working professionally as an artist in 2006.

2024: Graduated from the Toyama Institute of Glass Art, Advanced Research Course. 2024: Became Assistant at Tama Art University, Craft and Design Department, Glass Studio. Currently Assistant at Tama Art University, Craft and Design Department, Glass Studio. Although a single form is created in a matter of seconds, it is backed by repeated practice. The accumulation of instantaneous operations leads to the maturation of technique, which then manifests as precision in the form.

Kaneko Tsukasa / Ceramic Artist. Born in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture in 1970. Based in Hagi City, he creates Hagi ware pieces with mushroom motifs using traditional techniques such as suminagashi (marbling). He has worked internationally, including a residency at the Carlo Zauli Museum (Italy) in 2009, "Mushroom Art Laboratory Exhibition" at the Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art in 2010, and "Kusabira Kusagusa - Tsukasa Kaneko Ceramic Exhibition" at the Yamaguchi Prefectural Hagi Uragami Museum in 2019. While based on Hagi ware techniques, his work reconfigures them into approachable forms. His adorable shapes reflect a Japanese perspective on nature, presented in a contemporary style.

Yukiko Kurano: Born 1979 in Kumamoto City. Graduated from Kumamoto University, Faculty of Education, Junior High School Teacher Training Course (Art Specialization) in 2002. Completed the Master's Program in Art at the University of Tsukuba Graduate School in 2004. Her work explores the seemingly still, yet constantly growing and subtly moving forms of plants, their roots spreading and branches extending. It also captures the slowly but ceaselessly changing landscapes of the sky and sea. She also depicts the microscopic scenes within the human body, suggesting the countless cells teeming with life even when seemingly still. Her artistic process involves using brushstrokes to trace the dynamic movements inherent in these forms, even within their stillness.

Born in Fukuoka in 1987. Graduated from Tama Art University, Department of Information Design, Information Art Course, Faculty of Art in 2010. Using discarded clothing as her primary material, she explores creative forms that traverse the concepts of stuffed animals, dolls, and sculptures. She continuously produces "Mokemokemono," imaginary creatures, and presents installations and photographic works using them. In recent years, she has actively participated in artist-in-residence programs both in Japan and abroad. In 2023, she will train in Germany as an overseas researcher for the Pola Art Foundation. Her major exhibitions include the solo exhibition "Blooming" (Isetan Shinjuku Store Main Building 6F Gallery, Tokyo/2023) and the "Pola Museum Annex Exhibition - Boundaries of Existence -" (Pola Museum Annex Museum, Tokyo/2026).
