Statement
Graduated from Hokkaido College of Art and Design in 2015. Studied under Toshiya Shimosawa. Full-time instructor at Maruyama Potters' Studio.
Single-color glazes and rounded forms reveal the relationship between material and form. By minimizing ornamentation, the structure of the form itself is brought to the forefront.
Born in Hokkaido in 1994.
Graduated from Yokohama College of Art and Design, Craft Department in 2017.
Based in Kamakura City.
Takahashi creates three-dimensional works inspired by the lines and shapes of doodles, which she draws casually every day. These "forms" are an accumulation of countless things Takahashi has seen and experienced. They are new "forms" imbued with a sense of nostalgia. Her colorful, abstract "forms" are made from terracotta and resin, painted with original paints, and finished with gradients and glazes.
Born in Oita Prefecture in 1992.
Completed the dyeing course in the Craft Specialization of the Living Arts program, Department of Fine Arts, Graduate School of Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts in 2018. Became a part-time lecturer at the same university in 2019.
She gathers fragments of memories and emotions that slip away in daily life through fluctuating motifs such as waves and light. By using the katazome dyeing technique to create works from ambiguous and formless elements, she aims to give them definition and create expressions that quietly resonate with each viewer's memories.
Kaneko Tsukasa / Ceramic Artist.
Born in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture in 1970. Based in Hagi City, he creates Hagi ware pieces with mushroom motifs using traditional techniques such as suminagashi (marbling). He has worked internationally, including a residency at the Carlo Zauli Museum (Italy) in 2009, "Mushroom Art Laboratory Exhibition" at the Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art in 2010, and "Kusabira Kusagusa - Tsukasa Kaneko Ceramic Exhibition" at the Yamaguchi Prefectural Hagi Uragami Museum in 2019.
While based on Hagi ware techniques, his work reconfigures them into approachable forms. His adorable shapes reflect a Japanese perspective on nature, presented in a contemporary style.
Born in Liaoning Province, China, she came to Japan in 2018 after graduating from the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, with a major in Crafts. In 2020, she completed her master's degree in Crafts at Tokyo University of the Arts. She is currently enrolled in the doctoral program in Crafts at Tokyo University of the Arts and is active mainly in Tokyo. Focusing on the relationship between people, objects, and nature, she develops works that intersect multiple media and techniques, such as three-dimensional works, paintings, and videos, primarily using glass as a material, based on her philosophy influenced by post-minimalism and Eastern thought such as Buddhism.
2024: Graduated from the Toyama Institute of Glass Art, Advanced Research Course. 2024: Became Assistant at Tama Art University, Craft and Design Department, Glass Studio. Currently Assistant at Tama Art University, Craft and Design Department, Glass Studio.
Although a single form is created in a matter of seconds, it is backed by repeated practice. The accumulation of instantaneous operations leads to the maturation of technique, which then manifests as precision in the form.
