⚫︎The frame is constructed using Kaneai Kakitsugi (rectangular joints), a technique used in woodworking that is reproduced in ironwork. The ends of the folding screen's axes feature plum blossom buds, a symbol of strong vitality and perseverance, expressing the mystery and energy of nature about to bloom. The back panel of the wooden folding screen is made of iron and features a ladle-shaped depiction of the Big Dipper and the constellation Cassiopeia, connected to the North Star by brass clasps, showing the connection between the tea ceremony and the universe. The folding screen can be used on either side.
