Motor Show (VINTAGE CHAOS SERIES)

This work is part of "Beyond Words, Outside Meaning," a three-person exhibition that starts with words and characters to explore how we ordinarily understand and perceive the world. This exhibition re-examines the relationship between words and images through expressions that move between seeing and reading, form and meaning. Based on calligraphy, Hisashi Yamamoto engages in the conceptual practice of "writing the name of an object on the object itself." By superimposing an object with the characters that name it in the same place, he creates a moment where "seeing" and "reading" intersect, questioning the mechanism of recognition through language.
