Motor show (The Used)

Hisashi Yamamoto

This work was exhibited at "After Words, Beyond Meaning," a three-person exhibition that explores how we usually understand and perceive the world, starting from words and characters. The exhibition re-examines the relationship between words and images through expressions that move between seeing and reading, form and meaning. Based on calligraphy, Hisashi Yamamoto engages in the conceptual practice of "writing the name of a thing on the thing itself." By superimposing a thing and the characters that name it in the same place, he creates a moment where "seeing" and "reading" intersect, questioning the mechanism of recognition through language.
