Hisashi Yamamoto

This work is part of "After Words, Outside Meanings," a three-person exhibition that explores how we usually understand and perceive the world, starting from words and letters. This exhibition re-examines the relationship between words and images through expressions that move between seeing and reading, form and meaning. Naoshi Yamamoto, based on calligraphy, carries out the conceptual practice of "writing the name of a thing on the thing itself." By superimposing a thing and the characters that name it in the same place, he creates a moment where "seeing" and "reading" intersect, questioning the mechanism of recognition through language.
