The contemporary art gallery "YUGEN Gallery (Tenjin, Fukuoka / operated by Gene Co., Ltd.)" will be holding a special exhibition in conjunction with "ART FAIR ASIA FUKUOKA 2024" (AFAF2024) from Thursday, September 19th to Wednesday, October 9th, 2024 .
YUGEN Gallery has opened its second location, YUGEN Gallery FUKUOKA, following its location in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo.
The memorable opening will be a special exhibition linked to AFAF2024, and will feature works by three artists who will be exhibiting at the same art fair: Nishimoto Yuki, Nagao Hiroshi, and Saccharani Ai.
Nishimoto Yuki is a sumi-e artist who continues to attract attention from around the world. Not limited to traditional techniques, since 2017 he has been creating new works called "Toubokuga" (ceramic ink paintings) that combine sumi-e and ceramic techniques. With a unique touch that combines boldness and delicacy, he expresses a new world of sumi-e.
Hiroshi Nagao is a collage artist whose work focuses on the theme "We are the indigenous people of the future." Drawing traditional motifs and imaginary figures from around the world, he reflects on the relationship between traditional culture and materialism, and calls for learning from the past for the future and a return to human instincts.
Ai Sakkarani is an artist who captures the various colors that pass through her body and incorporates them into abstract works, believing that "an artist and a work are the manifestation of life itself." With diverse roots in the UK and India, she throws colors onto the canvas as she feels them.
The exhibition at YUGEN Gallery FUKUOKA will feature a slightly different lineup of works than those exhibited at art fairs, including small pieces that are easy to display.
During the exhibition period, visitors will be given free gifts such as original artist T-shirts.
We look forward to seeing you there.
