ARTY
This work is featured in the solo exhibition TYPOGRAFFiTi 4-5, which aims to "express words in a graffiti-like way, rather than limiting them to graphics."
Inspired by demonstration placards and social voices, this exhibition transforms the letters themselves into three-dimensional objects, reconstructing words from something to be read to something to be held up. The presence of light, shadow, and shape created by aluminum and acrylic further highlights the thoughts and wishes contained in these short words. Kitayama layers the weight of human emotions and reality into simple words that everyone knows, quietly asking how we should face society.
