[Natsuko Echizen] solo exhibition "Harmonious" touring Nagoya

From Saturday, April 29th to Sunday, May 28th, 2023, the Nagoya touring exhibition of the well-received solo exhibition "Harmonious," which was held at YUGEN Gallery in Shibuya, Tokyo in March 2023, will be held simultaneously in two locations: the event space on the 6th floor of the main building of Matsuzakaya Nagoya, and European cuisine VIVI, Nagoya's first restaurant offering the added value of "art x food."

Echizen Natsuko is an illustrator/artist who has worked in a wide range of fields, including character design for advertisements and TV anime, as well as displays for commercial facilities. In recent years, her artwork, which expresses her unique worldview, has garnered acclaim from many celebrities and creators.

The Nagoya touring exhibition of "Harmonious," which was held in Tokyo for the first time in 10 years in March 2023 and received rave reviews, will be held simultaneously at two locations: European Restaurant VIVI and Matsuzakaya Nagoya. The theme of this exhibition, which offers a glimpse into her future artworks as she continues to make great strides, is "symbiosis." Wishing for a relationship in which all beings, humans, animals, and plants, respect each other's individuality, she depicts a "Harmonious" world that represents a natural and peaceful connection. The worldview where fantasy and reality intertwine, where all living things live in harmony, stirs up memories of the past and imagination for the future, creating a narrative for each viewer.

Echizen has studied traditional Japanese painting, and also uses his experience in illustration and character design to create expressive and charming characters that will knock your preconceptions out of the equation.

The viewer's imagination will be clear and they will feel immersed as if they were listening to a myth or story being read to them, and their common sense and preconceived notions will be loosened. Natsuko Echizen
Illustrator/artist. Born in Ishikawa Prefecture and currently living in Tokyo. While working in a wide range of fields as an illustrator, including advertising, book illustrations, music videos, anime character design, and providing work to apparel brands, he has also been presenting many of his own artworks in recent years. His works are characterized by their unique worldview and narrative style, which make use of his experience in Japanese painting. In addition to WAVE 2019, 2020, and 2021, he has also participated in special exhibitions at Laforet Harajuku and the National Art Center, Tokyo. He is expanding his activities overseas, having been selected as one of Talent 100 (30 notable young creators in Asia) by Creative Expo Taiwan, organized by the Ministry of Culture of Taiwan.
