YUGEN Gallery Opening Exhibition “Add”

YUGEN Gallery Opening Exhibition “Add”

2024.04.06(Sat) – 2024.04.21(Sun)

YUGEN Gallery will be holding the group exhibition “Add”, which will be the opening of Minami Aoyama Gallery, from Saturday, April 6th to Sunday, April 21st, 2024.

This exhibition, planned and curated by Hirotaka Noma, brings together five artists who are attracting attention not only from Japan but also from overseas.

Based on the theme of "Add," which means "to add" or "addition," approximately 30 works, mainly new works created by each artist for this exhibition, will be on display and for sale.

The five artists participating in this exhibition are "Wataru Kimura," "SOMETA," "POKO," "KRM," and "DELUXESTO." Five diverse people from various backgrounds such as street culture, music, and fashion come together to create works with different motifs, such as people and living things.

This exhibition will consist of not only two-dimensionally imagined works by each artist, but also a group of other-dimensional works created by “adding” new ways of expression. As if painting on a blank canvas, it will inevitably color the new YUGEN Gallery.

Please take a look at the newly “added” works to the new gallery that is about to open.

Wataru Kimura

Kimura Wataru

With the theme of young people's complex emotions and instability, he expresses humanity through expressions of hesitation and irritation. He believes that emotions, which can be considered negative, can sometimes cause people pain, but at the same time they give us a feeling of being alive. His masterpiece, LOST BOYS, depicts exactly that moment.

SOMETA

In 2020, he started drawing digital paintings by himself. He has been disseminating his works primarily on SNS, and has been active as an artist since 2022. The concept of his work is the "needy" side he feels while expressing himself on SNS. Through his works, he expresses the needy portrait that everyone feels in this age of SNS.
