Akira Fujimoto solo exhibition

Akira Fujimoto solo exhibition "FREE RECOIL"

2022.10.15(Sat) – 2022.10.20(Thu)

Akira Fujimoto's solo exhibition "FREE RECOIL" will be held at YUGEN Gallery from Saturday, October 15th to Thursday, October 20th, 2022.

Akira Fujimoto is a social artist who works on the theme of energy.

In addition to the art project “2021,” which aims to show how Japan should be after the “Tokyo 2020 Olympics,” Akira Fujimoto has created works using “sea litter” left on the coast, as well as memories of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. I have worked on various works and projects, such as the project I am working on for inheritance.

The title of this exhibition, “FREE RECOIL,” refers to the recoil energy transmitted to the shooter when firing a small weapon such as a rifle. Recoil energy can be calculated based on physical phenomena caused by various factors, but "free recoil" cannot be calculated from the shooter's human factors, so it is not possible to grasp the actual perceived recoil.

The "One" series, which is mainly exhibited in this exhibition, is a series that attempts to leave the reactionary energy of one action on the canvas. It is not possible to grasp the completed image of the work before production. It can also be said to be a metaphor for modern society full of uncertainty.

Please take a look at the solo exhibition "FREE RECOIL" by Fujimoto, who has been working on the theme of energy, where you can feel the unpredictable "free recoil" energy.

This exhibition will be held as the seventh in a series of exhibitions curated by YUGEN Gallery for the bilingual art information magazine ONBEAT, which reexamines Japanese art culture and disseminates its appeal to the world.
