Kuroshio Current

Works exhibited at the group exhibition "KUROism - The world of tea ceremony as seen by contemporary artists."

Two-component urethane coating (super black, clear)

⚫︎These iron tatami mats are based on the motif of the Kuroshio Current, a great ocean current also known as the source of life.
The ocean current moves from west to east, forming a stagnant layer, and the wind waves face northwards, pushed by the wind blowing towards the warm land, creating a vast and gentle Seigaiha pattern.
Depending on the angle from which you view it, the surface reflects the light, sometimes shining with a sparkling white light, and sometimes appearing completely black, drawing you in.
It is constructed with wooden joists to give it a soft look, is relatively lightweight, and can even be hung on a wall.
