"Aesthetics of Shadow" Hidemi Ogata's photo exhibition, encounters 80s New York at LUSSO CAFE Harajuku
Photographer Ogata Hidemi, an artist represented by the contemporary art gallery "YUGEN Gallery" (Omotesando, Tokyo; operated by Gene Co., Ltd.), will hold a solo exhibition "Oh Yeah!!!" at LUSSO CAFE HARAJUKU in Harajuku, Tokyo from Thursday, July 11th to Wednesday, July 31st, 2024.
Photographer Ogata Hidemi moved to New York in the 1980s and became friends with world-famous artists such as Andy Warhol. He has also worked on photo books for Blankey Jet City, as well as CD jackets for musicians such as Eikichi Yazawa, B'z, and THE YELLOW MONKEY.
The current photo exhibition features portraits of black people that the artist met at Paradise Garage, a symbol of 1980s New York underground club culture.
