Artist Ayumu Sugiyama to exhibit at "Osaka Art & Design 2025"

Ayumu Sugiyama (formerly known as ruteN), an artist represented by YUGEN Gallery who has attracted attention for his unique style that combines contemporary art and flower arrangement, will be exhibiting at Osaka Art & Design 2025, a traveling art event to be held in Osaka from Wednesday, May 28th to Tuesday, June 24th, 2025. Sugiyama's works will be exhibited at the Osaka Design Center General Incorporated Foundation from Tuesday, June 10th to Tuesday, June 24th.

This event is an art and design festival held at various locations in Osaka City, with the theme of "Overlapping Passions," and with the participation of approximately 600 creators from Japan and abroad. Visitors can encounter a variety of expressions and experience new creative energy as they tour the city.

Based on the spirit of traditional flower arranging, Ayumu Sugiyama incorporates the free sensibility of contemporary art to create works that explore the nature of time and existence through plants.

This exhibition will feature two works, "impermanence 004" and "impermanence 008," which were exhibited at the solo exhibition "impermanence" held at YUGEN Gallery in October 2024.

The supple forms of plants bathed in soft light encapsulate the moment when life is about to take hold. A definite movement suspended in silence. These works gently send ripples through the viewer's inner self, as if to visualize the existence of "time," something we cannot touch, through the form of plants.

Please come and listen to the quiet dialogue between plants and time.
