YUGEN Gallery has announced the artists and artworks that will be exhibited at "ART FAIR ASIA FUKUOKA 2026" (AFAF2026), held at Fukuoka Kokusai Center from Friday, October 2 to Sunday, October 4, 2026.
Participating artists include Yuki Nishimoto, Hisashi Yamamoto, Keisuke Matsuda, Gakushu Tanaka, Shunsuke Saiki, So Ikegami, and Tsukasa Kaneko.
This year, the booth will be divided into two main themes, each exploring a unique worldview.
◼️The World of Ink Painting
Yuki Nishimoto's booth will feature giclée prints, primarily focusing on precious new original artworks.
Visitors can experience up close Yuki Nishimoto's dynamic ink brushstrokes and breathtaking scale, which have garnered recognition both domestically and internationally. In addition, one new original artwork, typically not available for sale, will be offered through a special lottery exclusively for AFAF 2026.
For details on the original artwork lottery, please refer to the special page.
◼️The World of YUGEN
The other booth will showcase works by six unique artists (Hisashi Yamamoto, Keisuke Matsuda, Gakushu Tanaka, Shunsuke Saiki, So Ikegami, and Tsukasa Kaneko), presenting a world of unique expressions created through diverse artistic approaches.
-
A leading figure in "ART SHODO" who expands the spirit of calligraphy into the modern age, presenting new possibilities for characters, lines, and space. He challenges the redefinition of "calligraphy" with an avant-garde and bold approach that transcends traditional calligraphic frameworks.
-
Through abstract expressions that move between reality and inner worlds, he presents painting as a "process" rather than an "outcome," depicting the intersection of thought and body. Layers of color and brushstrokes provide ample room for deep contemplation by the viewer.
-
Starting from architectural thinking and modern technology (smartphones, blueprints, etc.), he explores "things made from calligraphy." As a rising star in "ART SHODO," he develops unique spatial expressions that merge tradition with contemporary concepts.
-
Through subculture and digital media expression methods, he highlights backgrounds and disappearing images, expressing a unique contemporary sense of a world where reality and virtuality intersect. His unique visual language, capturing the perspective of the digital native generation, is captivating.
-
He pours his instantaneous mastery into glass, expressing his world of energy. He creates three-dimensional expressions that capture the fleeting beauty of glass shaping as it solidifies from heat, and the spark of vitality.
-
He expresses mushrooms based on traditional Hagi ware techniques and a natural worldview, presenting a new world of possibilities as contemporary art. With delicate colors and sculptural beauty, including "suminagashi" (marbling), he brilliantly merges craft and contemporary art.
The intersection of works by seven artists of different genres and themes creates a diversity of values and expanded sensations.
Through YUGEN Gallery's unique curation, each visitor will have a special experience of encountering "their own art."
All exhibited works will be available for purchase at the venue and online from the VIP Preview on Thursday, October 1.
