Statement

Shiriagari Kotobuki
Kotobuki Shiriagari
Born in Shizuoka Prefecture in 1958. After graduating from Tama Art University and working for Kirin Brewery, he made his debut as a manga artist in 1984 with "Ryusei Kacho." He develops unique comedy manga centered around parody, and has many representative works such as "Yaji-san and Kita-san at Midnight" and "The Earth Defense Family." He has received the Bungeishunju Manga Award, the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize Excellence Award, and the Agency for Cultural Affairs Media Arts Festival Excellence Award. In 2014, he was awarded the Medal with Purple Ribbon. He currently continues to engage in a wide range of creative endeavors, not only in manga but also in art and video, and is a visiting professor at Kobe Design University.
