Based in Kyoto, I have primarily focused on painting to date. I attempt to depict images that exist in the pre-completion stage, before they become fully formed, and my approach is characterized by treating the visible and invisible as equally significant.
Starting with images that arise at moments when I perceive the reality before me as inseparable from thought and language, I also treat the consciousness itself that attempts to express these images as external reality. Through this process, I try to create paintings where images integrate with bodily movements and intentions, directly manifesting onto the canvas. In recent years, in parallel with painting, I have also begun working with ceramics, moving between two- and three-dimensional forms. The time it takes for a subject to emerge as a form, and the process of perception, have become important elements in my current practice.
