untitled
Based in Kyoto, I have primarily focused on painting. I attempt to depict images that exist at a stage prior to aiming for a finished result, and my approach is characterized by treating the visible and invisible as equally significant.
My starting point is an image that arises at the moment when I feel that the reality before me is inseparable from thought and language. I then treat the consciousness itself that tries to express this image in the same way as external reality. Through this process, I try to generate paintings where images integrate with bodily movements and intentions, and these are directly fixed onto the canvas. In recent years, alongside painting, I have also begun working with ceramics, moving between two-dimensional and three-dimensional forms. The time and cognitive process until an object appears as a form have become important elements in my current practice.
