untitled (boat 2)
Based in Kyoto, I have primarily focused on painting. My work attempts to depict images in a stage prior to aspiring to a finished result, characterized by an approach that treats visible and invisible elements as equally important.
I begin with images that arise at moments when the reality before my eyes feels inseparable from thought and language, and I treat the consciousness that attempts to express these images in the same way as external reality. Through this process, I aim to create paintings where images become integrated with bodily movements and intentions, and these are directly fixed onto the canvas. In recent years, alongside painting, I have also started working with ceramics, moving between two-dimensional and three-dimensional forms. The time and process of perception until an object emerges as a form have become important elements in my current practice.
