Untitled (Firefly II)

Based in Kyoto, I have primarily focused on painting to date. I attempt to depict images at a stage prior to aiming for a completed result, and my approach is characterized by treating the visible and invisible as equally significant.
Starting from images that emerge at moments when I perceive the reality before me as inseparable from thought and language, I also treat the consciousness itself that attempts to express these images as external reality. Through this process, I try to generate paintings where images integrate with bodily movements and intentions, directly settling onto the canvas. In recent years, I have also begun working with ceramics alongside painting, moving between two and three dimensions. The time it takes for an object to materialize as a form and the process of perception have become important elements in Matsuda's current practice.
