I am based in Kyoto and have primarily focused on painting. My work attempts to depict images in a stage prior to the pursuit of a completed outcome, characterized by an approach that treats visible and invisible elements as equally important.
Starting from images that emerge at moments when I perceive the reality before me as inseparable from thought and language, I treat the very consciousness that tries to express these images in the same way as external reality. Through this process, I attempt to generate paintings where images become integrated with bodily movements and intentions, which are then directly fixed onto the canvas. In recent years, alongside painting, I have also begun working with ceramics, moving back and forth between two and three dimensions. The time it takes for a subject to appear as a form and the process of perception have become important elements in my current practice.
