Based in Kyoto, I have primarily focused on painting to date. I attempt to depict images at a stage prior to aspiring for a completed outcome, characterized by an approach that treats the visible and invisible as equally valid.
My work begins with images that arise in moments when the reality before me feels inseparable from thought and language. I treat the very consciousness attempting to express these images in the same way as external reality. Through this process, I aim to generate paintings where images become one with bodily movements and intentions, directly manifesting onto the canvas. In recent years, alongside painting, I have also begun working with ceramics, moving between two and three dimensions. The time and cognitive processes involved in an object taking form have become crucial elements in Matsuda's current practice.
