cumulus

Moe Amano

This work depicts layers of accumulated forms using the varying shades of charcoal. Soft forms create layers, spreading across the canvas with a quiet sense of weight. The phenomenon of "accumulation" brings to mind the stratification of time formed by fallen leaves, earth, and the workings of microscopic life.
In this work, instead of depicting a clear object, the state of accumulation itself is brought forth as form. The overlapping traces encapsulate the natural cycle of generation and decomposition, suggesting that the present moment is built upon countless accumulations.
