"The gathering of Light"-18

"The gathering of Light" is a series inspired by the candle flames depicted in Georges de La Tour's "Mary Magdalene." Memories of small lights have accumulated within the artist, and have been reconstructed in the present day as abstract paintings.
Multiple images of light are layered on the monochromatic canvas. The red represents a flame illuminating the darkness, and the white space represents morning light. The repetition of different lights creates the theme of "The gathering of light." For the artist, light is a symbol of hope.
