Kiyo Ohtaki solo exhibition “STRUCTURE”

Saturday, May 28, 2022 - Thursday, June 2, 2022

YUGEN Gallery will be holding a solo exhibition by sculptor Ota Kiyooh, "STRUCTURE," from Saturday, May 28th to Thursday, June 2nd, 2022.

After studying architecture at university, Ota Kiyo worked for a foreign investment bank, and is now a sculptor whose creative endeavors explore the themes of social structure and relationships.
At first glance, the works appear to have depth, but when viewed from the side, you will notice that they do not have much depth. These works, which make full use of perspective and optical illusions, have the essential beauty and structural beauty of objects, based on Ota Kiyo's background in architecture.

Shibuya, where this exhibition will be held, is in the midst of a once-in-a-century redevelopment, and the sounds of steel frame construction can be heard everywhere. Therefore, this exhibition will feature works that pursue structural beauty, under the title "Structure," a keyword that symbolizes the ever-changing appearance of Shibuya and Kiyo Ota's artistry.

Many people in modern society are said to feel a sense of stagnation. However, please come and see Ota Kiyo's works that make full use of perspective and optical illusions, reminding us that by changing our perspective, we can look at the future in a positive way.

ONBEAT, a bilingual art information magazine that takes a fresh look at Japanese art and culture and disseminates its appeal to the world, is curating the third exhibition at YUGEN Gallery, Kiyo Ohta's solo exhibition.
