This work is featured in the solo exhibition "Art Room Ghost," which returns to the art room, the origin of creativity, and questions the essence of "creation."
This exhibition explores the pure act of "creation" itself, remaining outside the bounds of society and institutions, and depicts a ghost-like presence lingering alone in an old art room. There, memories of childhood, when he was absorbed in working with his hands, are revived as a "rich solitude" that is the polar opposite of the speed and efficiency of modern society.
Akimoto returns to primitive materials such as pencil and carbon paper, and through the act of drawing, he imprints "traces of time" onto the canvas.
