Based in Kyoto, I have primarily focused on painting. My work attempts to depict images in a pre-conceptual stage, before they become fully formed, and is characterized by treating the visible and invisible as equally significant.
I start with images that arise in moments when the reality before me feels inseparable from thought and language. I then treat the very consciousness that tries to express these images as external reality itself. Through this process, I try to generate paintings where images become integrated with bodily movements and intentions, directly settling onto the canvas. In recent years, alongside painting, I have also begun working with ceramics, moving between two and three dimensions. The time and cognitive process involved in an object manifesting as a form have become important elements in my current practice.
