untitled
Based in Kyoto, I have primarily focused on painting. My work attempts to depict images in a pre-conceptual state, before they are fully formed, characterized by a perspective that views the visible and invisible as equally significant.
My starting point is an image that arises at moments when the reality before my eyes feels inseparable from thought and language. I treat the very consciousness that tries to express this image in the same way I treat external reality. Through this process, I try to create paintings where the image integrates with bodily movements and intentions, and these are directly transferred onto the canvas. In recent years, I have also begun working with ceramics alongside painting, moving between two- and three-dimensional forms. The time it takes for an object to emerge as a form and the process of perception have become crucial elements in my current practice.
