untitled

Based in Kyoto, I have primarily focused on painting. I attempt to depict images at a stage prior to aiming for a completed result, characterized by an approach that treats the visible and invisible as equally significant.
My work originates from images that arise at moments when the reality before me feels inseparable from thought and language. I treat the very consciousness attempting to express these images in the same way as external reality. Through this process, I try to generate paintings where images integrate with bodily movements and intentions, becoming directly fixed onto the canvas. In recent years, alongside painting, I have also begun working with ceramics, moving between two-dimensional and three-dimensional forms. The time and cognitive processes involved until an object emerges as a form have become crucial elements in Matsuda's current practice.
