Based in Kyoto, I have primarily focused on painting. My work attempts to depict images in a pre-conceptual stage, before they become fully formed, and is characterized by treating visible and invisible elements as equally significant.
I start with images that emerge at moments when I perceive the reality before me to be inseparable from thought and language. I then treat the very consciousness that tries to express these images in the same way I treat external reality. Through this process, I aim to create paintings where images become one with bodily movements and intentions, directly settling onto the canvas. In recent years, I have also begun working with ceramics alongside painting, moving between two and three dimensions. The time it takes for a subject to manifest as a form, and the process of perception, have become crucial elements in my current practice.
