Based in Kyoto, I have primarily focused on painting. I attempt to depict images that are in a pre-finished state, characterized by an approach that treats the visible and invisible as equally significant.
I start with images that arise at moments when I perceive the reality before me to be inseparable from thought and language, and I treat the very consciousness that attempts to express these images in the same way as external reality. Through this process, I try to create paintings where images integrate with bodily movements and intentions, and these are directly fixed onto the canvas. In recent years, in parallel with painting, I have also begun working with ceramics, moving between two- and three-dimensional forms. The time and process of perception until an object emerges as a form has become an important element in my current practice.
