untitled

Based in Kyoto, I have primarily focused on painting. My work attempts to depict images in a stage prior to aiming for a finished result, characterized by an approach that treats the visible and invisible as equally significant.
Starting from images that emerge when I perceive the reality before me as inseparable from thought and language, I treat the consciousness that tries to express these images as external reality itself. Through this process, I aim to create paintings where images become one with bodily movements and intentions, directly settling onto the canvas. In recent years, I have also begun working with ceramics alongside painting, moving between two- and three-dimensional forms. The time and cognitive process involved in an object emerging as a form have become important elements in Matsuda's current practice.
