Yokozuna Hakuho VII

Hidemi Ogata

Works on sale at the photo exhibition "Yokozuna Hakuho" by Hidemi Ogata, a photographer who has been photographing legendary icons such as musicians and artists for over 30 years.

The rope-throwing ceremony was held in which all members of the family came out to weave ropes and to the beat of drums. Due to the tradition that yokozuna are not allowed to show pain, the sight of a yokozuna with a contorted expression on his face is kept out of public view. It was understood that the film's intention was to "preserve forever the image of Hakuho, a human being becoming a god," and the film was allowed to be released to the public. At Miyagino Stable in 2007.
