Popular contemporary artist Itoshi Saccharani, a representative artist of the contemporary art gallery "YUGEN Gallery (Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo/operated by Gene Co., Ltd.)," will hold a solo exhibition "Sun and Rain" in Yotsuya, Tokyo from Saturday, July 20th to Monday, August 12th, 2024.
Ai Saccharani is an artist who expresses everyday life through paintings and sculptures. In this exhibition, she will be showcasing works that explore how people relate to their local community and build their self-awareness, starting with the smallest unit of a group, the couple, and exploring local customs and culture.

Artist Statement
"Sun and Rain"
I express my daily life through paintings and sculptures using acrylic paints and wood. Humans are creatures that live in groups, and the smallest unit is the couple and the family. A family is not only a physical bond, but also a place of emotional support and cultural transmission. And local communities are made up of people who are connected by geographical proximity and support each other. Yotsuya, where I work, is a place with a strong sense of community despite being in the city center. Our horizons have expanded due to the spread of the Internet and SNS, but it has become more important to explore the geography and customs of the local area close to us and feel the continuation and development of culture. With this background, I focus on how people interact with their local community and build self-awareness. I hope that through my work, you will empathize with the importance of local communities and their impact on individual lives. I look forward to seeing you there.
