YUGEN Gallery, a contemporary art gallery operated by Gene Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Tokyo; President and CEO: Hiroaki Hayashida), is pleased to announce that it will continue its activities as a project partner of the Fukuoka City-sponsored art project "FaN (FUKUOKA ART NEXT)" in 2025, following on from 2024.
"FaN" is an art project promoted by the city of Fukuoka, which aims to create new value and revitalize the city while making use of the charm of local culture. With the theme of "Fukuoka's Future Envisioned by Art," it promotes the development of the local community and international cultural exchange through art.
A wide range of participants, including local artists, cultural organizations, businesses, and citizens, are involved in this project, which develops a variety of programs to enliven Fukuoka's art scene. For example, the project aims to widely disseminate the cultural appeal of Fukuoka through support for artist training, citizen-participation events, and the holding of exhibitions that attract attention both from within Japan and overseas.
Furthermore, "FaN" aims not only to improve the city's brand through culture and the arts, but also to contribute to revitalizing the local economy and attracting tourists. Fukuoka is painting a new image of the city with art at its core, and is continuing to grow further as an attractive cultural city that attracts many people.
As a hub for contemporary art, YUGEN Gallery aims to enhance the cultural value of Fukuoka and other local communities. Through this continued participation, we empathize with FaN's vision of "From Fukuoka to the World" and will play a role in promoting Fukuoka City's art scene both domestically and internationally. As a bridge that brings the appeal of local culture and art to more people, we will continue to contribute to society and creative urban development through art.
