History of YUGEN Gallery
Simultaneous opening of offline gallery and online EC site
Founded on February 26, 2022 in Shibuya, Tokyo, YUGEN Gallery has been exploring the possibilities of contemporary art based on the uniquely Japanese aesthetic concept of "yugen". Since its establishment , the gallery has developed an e-commerce website where people can view and purchase artworks online . In 2023, the gallery also opened an English website, providing an environment where people from all over the world can view and purchase artworks. This has enabled the gallery to connect artists and viewers beyond geographical constraints, promoting global exchange through art.
Moved to Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo, and significantly updated the exhibition environment
The gallery will move to Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo in March 2024. In addition to expanding the exhibition space, the new gallery will be equipped with a large wall projector and fully introduce the next-generation dimming system "Synca," which can control dimming and color adjustments as lighting equipment, allowing for more dynamic presentation of artworks.
Opening a new gallery in Tenjin, Fukuoka and participating in an art fair
In September 2024, we will open a base in Tenjin, Fukuoka, where we will develop new art activities rooted in the local community and exhibit at "Art Fair Asia Fukuoka 2024" for the first time, strengthening our presence in the domestic and international art markets. In 2025, as a further challenge, we will exhibit at "ART FAIR TOKYO 2025" to be held at the Tokyo International Forum from March 6th, further increasing our presence in the domestic and international art markets.
