YUGEN Gallery is holding the “Smash Hits 01 from ONBEAT" exhibition from Saturday, April 2 to Thursday, April 7, 2022.

 

Bilingual art magazine ONBEAT is taking its popular series featuring its recommendations of young artists to watch to Shibuya's YUGEN Gallery in the form of the “Smash Hits 01 from ONBEAT" exhibition.
Artworks by 13 artists will be exhibited: Hiroyoshi Asaka, Daichi Ishimura, Sensui, Yuki Ideguchi, Toru Ichikawa, Norihisa Ichimura, Keita Sagaki, Ryosuke Shiomi, Tomohiro Takagi, Midori Tsukada, Mitsuki Naka, Shoko Fujimori and Kayoko Mizumoto (in Japanese phonetic order)

Specially selected works loved by readers as well as collectors will be shown together under one roof.

Hirono Asaka

HIROYOSHI ASAKA

Born in Osaka in 1977. Graduated from Kyoto University of Art and Design (currently Kyoto University of the Arts). 2009, 2012, 2017, 2020 Takashimaya Touring Exhibition (Tokyo, Osaka), 2014 Seizan Gallery (Tokyo), 2015 Isetan Shinjuku Store (Tokyo) and many other solo exhibitions. 2016 "Collect" (Micheko Gallery / Germany), 2019 "VOLTA Basel" (Switzerland), "PULSE Art Fair" (Miami), "Art Central" (Hong Kong), "Break Eve" (Roppongi Hills A/D Gallery / Tokyo) and many other group exhibitions and art fairs. His works are stored in Osaka City, Ginza Eikokuya (Tokyo), and Oharayama Shrine (Fukuoka).


Daichi Ishimura

DAICHI ISHIMURA

Born in Ehime Prefecture in 1991. 2020 Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts, Graduate School of Fine Arts, Department of Crafts. 2018 "KENZAN" (Tokyo Metropolitan Theater), "Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale" (Niigata), "Tokyo Harvest" (Toranomon Hills / Tokyo), "Geidai Arts in Marunouchi" (Maru Building / Tokyo), 2021 Participated in many group exhibitions and art fairs such as “Mitsu IX” (Geidai Art Plaza / Tokyo). Received the 2018 Mitsubishi Estate Award and the 2020 Harada Award. Collected in Hotel Royal Classic Osaka.

IZUMI

Born in Tokyo. 1993 Graduated from Meiji Gakuin University, Department of French Literature. In 1996, after studying pottery under Ms. Reiko Tadakoshi of Natsukan Kiln, traveled to France in 1997-98 to create pottery at an atelier in Paris, and became independent in 2005. 2003-2021 Gallery Hanakagesho (Tokyo), 2021 “Art Fair Tokyo” (Gallery Hanakagesho booth), 2017, 2018, 2020 Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store, etc. Many solo exhibitions. Participated in many group exhibitions and art fairs, including the 2018 “Netsuke Exhibition: Chic Accessories/Edo Crafts Special Exhibit: Prince Takamado Family Netsuke Collection” (Hiroshima Museum of Art). His works are included in the Takamado Family Netsuke Collection, the Seishu Netsuke Museum in Kyoto, and the Mitsuko Masui Collection (Azabu University).


Toru Ichikawa

TORU ICHIKAWA

Born in Tokyo in 1973. Studied under Ryuichi Kakurezaki in 2011 and became independent in 2015. Many solo exhibitions at major domestic department stores such as Nihonbashi Takashimaya, Yokohama Takashimaya, Osaka Daimaru, and Tenmaya. 2017 "Art Beijing" (Beijing), "Revelations International Fine Craft & Creation Biennial" (Paris), 2018 "Asia Contemporary Art Show Fall 2018 edition" (Hong Kong), "Art Fair Tokyo", 2019 "Art Fair Asia Fukuoka" Participated in many group exhibitions and art fairs. In 2020, “Crafts as Art x Spatial Design” will be held at Tanseisha Headquarters Creative Meets. 2017 Shikinen Sengu Project for Kamigamo Shrine Dedicated black tenmoku chawan "Kagutsuchi".


Tokuhisa Ichimura

NORIHISA ICHIMURA

Born in Aichi Prefecture in 1979. After graduating from the Department of Photography, Faculty of Arts, Osaka University of Arts, worked in Tokyo, Shanghai, New York, and is currently based in Tokyo. 2013 Held a solo exhibition at "Flower Eclipse" (KOKUYO Gallery / Shanghai). 2012 "Iris" (M50 Peninsula 1919 Japanese Culture Village / Shanghai), 2018 "Rock and Chrysanthemum" (Gallery Sugata / Kyoto), 2019 "Still" (Leisure Center / Vancouver), 2020 Participated in many group exhibitions, including “Crafts as Art x Spatial Design” (Tanseisha Office Creative Booth Gallery / Tokyo) in 2022, and “PRAYER and CELEBRATION -” (Elephant Studio / Tokyo) in 2022.


Yuki Deguchi

Keita Sagaki

KEITA SAGAKI

TOMOHIRO TAKAGI

Born in Gifu Prefecture in 1972. 1995 Studied classical painting techniques in Europe. 2010 "Fur, Away" (Elsa Gallery / Taipei), 2013 "Sky Bird -Nue-" (Chukyo University Art Gallery C Square / Aichi), 2015 "Izanami" (Vanilla Gallery / Tokyo), 2017 “Rabbit Hole” (Gallery Kogure / New York) and many other solo exhibitions. Midori Tsukada

MIDORI TSUKADA

Born in Gifu prefecture. 2002 Graduated from Toyama Institute of Glass Art. After graduating from Kanazawa Utatsuyama Kogei Kobo in 2004, worked as a specialist. Independent in 2011. Many solo exhibitions such as “Cross” (Nihonbashi Takashimaya / Tokyo) in 2020. Participated in many group exhibitions, including “Dense World – Hokuriku Up-and-coming 4 Artists” (Ginza, Wako / Tokyo) in 2019, and “Whereabouts of Craft Beauty: Materials, Expressions and Decorations” (Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store / Tokyo) in 2021. . Shoko Fujimori

SHOKO FUJIMORI

Born in Hokkaido in 1986. 2013 Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School of Fine Arts majoring in painting. Many solo exhibitions such as “Twinkle Pieces” (Gallery MoMo Ryogoku / Tokyo) in 2019 and “Take the rudder!” (Gallery MoMo Projects Roppongi / Tokyo) in 2021. Participated in many group exhibitions and art fairs such as the 2020 ASYAAF and Hidden Artists Festival (Seoul). Works are included in the Japigozzi collection. Collaboration with fashion brand “And A” from 2019 to 2020. 2020 POCARI SWEAT TVCM "This is #BintangSMA 2019 Winner!"


Kayoko Mizumoto

KAYOKO MIZUMOTO

Born in Ishikawa Prefecture in 1971. After studying coloring at Kaga Yuzen Studio and painting at a Kutani ware pottery, he became independent in 2010.
