The group exhibition "NIHONGA〇-en-Small Works Exhibition Profile" will be held at YUGEN Gallery from Saturday, October 8th to Thursday, October 13th, 2022.
NIHONGA〇 is a group of Japanese painters formed with the aim of inspiring each other and enhancing their passion, transcending differences in expressive techniques and interpretations of Japanese painting.
Just as a single stone creates ripples on the surface of water, Japanese painters can form "connections" with each other and work together as one "circle," aiming to raise broad questions about contemporary society through Japanese painting and to create new ideas.
"NIHONGA〇" has had two well-received exhibitions in Kyoto to date (at the Museum of Kyoto and the Kyocera Museum of Art), and this will be its first Tokyo exhibition. As the title "Profile" suggests, the exhibition will unravel the personalities and styles of each member.
The 18 artists featured in the exhibition are Akiyama Jun, Aritomi Yoshiko, Kaneki Masako, Kinoshita Meiko, Goto Yoshiaki, Sasaki Masashi, Taira Yuki, Takei Chikako, Tasumi Shinnosuke, Tezuka Yoko, Nakamura Nanami, Namekawa Michihiro, Mizuno Yui, Yabuki Saori, Yamamoto Youko, Yokoyama Fumi, Wakabayashi Shizuka, and Watanabe Yoko (in alphabetical order).
